In Valldal, known as the strawberry village of Sunnmøre, Valldal Fjord Hotel sits right on the waterfront. Here you’ll find peace, closeness to nature, and views of the Norddalsfjord, the Sunnmøre Mountains, and Syltefjellet with its legendary “serpent mark.”

The hotel offers comfortable rooms with private terraces, a restaurant serving local specialties, and cozy outdoor areas with a fire pit. Down by the river, you can unwind in OPPKOK sauna – a place for warmth, relaxation, and recharge.

Construction: We are expanding with 16 new hotel rooms as well as conference and event facilities for up to 80 guests, scheduled for completion in summer 2026. During this period, there may be some daytime noise, but we will do our best to ensure a pleasant stay.

The hotel has 56 modern double rooms, all located on the ground floor with a private terrace. Warm colours, soft textiles and natural materials create a welcoming and peaceful setting for your stay.

Large windows bring in plenty of natural light and open up views of the fjord or the steep mountains surrounding Valldal. Comfortable Wonderland beds invite a good night’s sleep, while each room also features a coffee machine, TV, seating area and free Wi-Fi.

Several rooms are decorated with historic photographs from Valldal and the surrounding area, adding a local touch and a glimpse into the valley’s past.

Restaurant and celebrations

At Restaurant Heilage Olav, good food is served alongside views of the fjord and the Sunnmøre mountains. During summer, we offer an à la carte menu, while throughout the rest of the year, we serve a daily dinner to hotel guests and on request.

The restaurant features art on the walls and a rare collection of stones from the local area – details that give the space a distinct sense of place. Here, there is every reason to let dinner take the time it deserves.

For celebrations and weddings, the new Diamanten function room offers an inviting setting for life’s special occasions, with space for up to 100 guests.

The Pilgrim Path from Valldal

Valldal is the starting point of one of Norway’s historic pilgrim routes. From the fjord, the Valldal Route leads through valleys and mountain landscapes towards Dovrefjell, where it joins the ancient path to Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim.
